Triathlon

Lindley is an ideal triathlon training venue where it is possible to perform the 3 disciplines from a single point in a quiet country village 2 hours from Johannesburg. Lindley is situated at a higher altitude than Johannesburg between 1500 and 1600 metres above sea level. There is a dam where laps of between 600 and 800 metres can be swum. There are a number of hills around Lindley where an unlimited amount of kilometers can be run on tar roads providing excellent hill training.

On the cycling front there is a 16Km circuit on tar road which consists entirely of hills. This section of road has a wide shoulder where it is relatively safe to cycle. For those wanting to put in some off road training there are countless gravel roads and the terrain is comprised of numerous hills. There is a gravel road from Lindley to Reitz which is about 70Km and for those who are brave enough the return journey provides one with a 140Km outride! One can literally ride these gravel roads for hours without seeing anyone or passing any cars!

Accommodation is relatively cheap and Cherry Cottage Inn can be hired for a group booking. The house consists of 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and this is ideal for a group of friends and family to get away for a training weekend.
